I'm throwing down the gauntlet. One of my crit partners has encouraged our group to join in a fun challenge put together by a writers group. It's pretty similar to NaNoWriMo where you write a novel in a month. KiWi Writers has made their challenge a little more flexible. 50,000 words written in a month. Doesn't matter if it's one book or three. It's the Southern Cross Novel Challenge 2009, or SoCNoC for short. What matters is that you've got a 50,000 word goal from June 1 until the 30th of June.

Tried a 1k per day challenge in May. Not so good. Too many distractions in the month. But nothing going on in June, so I'm game!
I am absolutely amazed when I hear of writers being able to accomplish so much in so short a time! Since I write historical fiction, I go slow because I constantly have to stop to research tidbits of info. So, I will have to live vicariously through all of you other speed writers!! Have fun!
Way to go, Chelle. I could never write like that fast, not with the amount of research I get to do and the family obligations. Good luck.
I just about did that with my latest project!! I need to edit now:) Enjoy it though--you will be glad when it is done.
I can't write like that either, but I'm always writing so I don't worry about it.
Keep us posted on your progress.
good luck! you can do it! keep us posted!
Patricia ~ YAY!! Glad to have the company, honey!!
Jody ~ I did it last year when I wrote a series contemporary with NaNoWriMo. But I'd never dream of being able to accomplish this with my historical paranormal:)
Bella, Terri, Chickie and Kerrie ~ Thank you so much for the encouragement guys!! I'm definitely going to need it. My crit partners may hate me when I'm done;)
