Bittersweet

A week ago I was counting the days until we left for home. Now? I'm wishing we lived closer to New Orleans and the beaches. This past weekend we were able to visit Nottoway Plantation, New Orleans and the famous historic cemeteries. I hated to spend $20 bucks per person to participate in the many tours walking around, but we paid $5 for a little two page guide that listed a few of the more famous burial sites. Even my little guy and big ol' corn fed cowboy seemed to be interested in my morbid fascination with history.

Today is the first day of my writer's challenge so I'm not going to be able to go into full poetic detail...I'll leave you with a few pictures. I've also found a cool link to share about the different tomb descriptions.

That's cool. When I went to new Orleans (I think it was 2003), we didn't get a chance to do the cemetary thing.
Did you have any beignets? :)

Mmmmm...at the famous Cafe Du Monde! We had Cafe Au Lait and beignets. The coffee has chickory in it which adds a chocolate flavor. I bought several containers of the coffee and beignet mix to take home.

Interesting. Have you watched Double Jeopardy with Ashley Judd yet? Rent it when you get a chance. It's set in NOLA and has a fantastic scene that takes place in one of the old cemeteries.

So where are you going to be now?

Chelle, did you go out to Metaire Cemetery?
Truly amazing place, and much more interesting than ole St. Louis #1 :)

Silke, ya know...we went by there so many times and never stopped. There are so many things I missed. We just didn't have the time or money to do all of it. Hopefully we'll be able to go back one of these days. Hubby has a job coming up next year in Biloxi...maybe then..

Chicki ~ I love that movie but didn't really try to find the area where they filmed that scene. We were down in the French Quarter alot though and met some interesting people.

Terri ~ I loved seeing some of the sites we've watched in movies, and the history of it was what I found interesting.

Bethanne ~ Thanks honey!
