Gotta love it

Typical Oklahoma weather. We get so sick of winter...idiots like me are excited about warmer weather. But come on! We went from 40's & 50's to 80's. So much for Spring. I love the trees and flowers and everything turning green, but the allergy season has also exploded. They are saying that our region is expected to have a bad allergy year. DUH.

I haven't worn my contacts in two weeks. Not a problem but I still have gunk I'm fishing out of my eyes constantly and going through tissues like crazy. At least my oldest hasn't had a major asthma attack yet. That's usually our first Spring indicator.

But beyond all the griping, I LOVE Spring! The kiddos can play outside more. I really enjoy sitting outside in the evenings and grilling while watching kids and dogs play. I'm planning to go this weekend and pick up early flowers to plant out in front. I love driving up and seeing my blooming, colorful flower beds. I can deal with allergies because I love the smell of fresh cut grass. I love coming in after working outside and taking a shower, laying around on couch with windows open and an evening breeze drifting lazily through the blinds.

Shoot...who am I kidding. That'll last about a month and I'll be ready for tornado season to go away and bring Fall.

Sounds like Atlanta. This morning when I opened the windows (it was 61 degrees at 6 AM), I realized I'd better enjoy this while I can. The pollen here is like nothing I've ever seen. At its worst the count can be 4-5,000. It covers everything with a sticky disgusting yellowish-green film. We have to wash the windshield before we can leave the driveway! The car washes LOVE this time of year, but it's crazy to pay to wash your car every other day -- even at the $3.00 car wash.

Thankfully I'm not allergic. The only thing it does is make me itch. Hang in there, and take whatever makes you feel better without making you loopy.

LOL. I remember when we lived in Alabama how bad the pollen got there and that yellow film on everything! Here it's the hay and ragweed.

I live at the shore, so we basically joke that we have no spring. The ocean air always makes it at least 10 degrees cooler than the inland.

But when everyone else is enjoying 70 degree weather yesterday, we're still in the 50's. Brrr.

Now I hear it'll be back in the 40's this weekend. Again. Brrr.

We have to wipe the pollen of the car windshield too. Up north, in Ohio, I don't remember any pollen. The cold weather probably keep it away. :)
It's been warm here in Savannah, I wonder what it's like in Maryland.
